Upper Grades Visual Art Lessons

Symmetry Activities

5/19/2020

Hi Art Scholars,
I have an exciting lesson brought to you by Ms. Belot from Heritage & Juarez-Lincoln. After you watch the video there's a Symmetry Scavenger Hunt and an activity about positive and negative space.  Check out this video on Symmetry from Free School: https://youtu.be/YFzktJNmnPU
Now try to complete a Symmetry Scavenger Hunt around your house. Look for items around your house with lines of symmetry. Draw a sketch or describe your favorite symmetrical object and ask a family member to guess what it is! If you need help thinking of lines of symmetry, check out the next page for a Lines of Symmetry Bingo.

Or using scissors and colored paper you can create this positive and negative space art work.  This lesson is from Ms. Westfall.

Happy Wednesday Art Scholars!
I have a fun drawing activity for you to draw.  Please check out the video from Art for kids Hub on YouTube.
Once you have drawn the Folding Ice Cream, I hope you will make it your own.  When you are finished with your creation, please share it with us on Twitter @VAPA_CVESD.

    ART

Art gives children an outlet to express themselves and an activity in which they can create things that they are proud of. When children create and share their art, they develop self-esteem from experiencing opportunities to make something unique, expressing their feelings and imagination, and receiving praise and critique from those around them.
