How can we greet our friends and family while staying 6 feet apart?

5/27/2020

  • We might have to keep our distance from our friends when we are allowed to come back to school. This is going to be very hard. A way to help us deal with this is to be prepared! Have you thought about how you might greet your friends and teachers when you come back?
  • Theatre is the perfect subject to think about and practice ways to say hello while keeping your distance. The 2 ways we can greet each other is with our voice and gestures.
  • Gestures are body (arms, legs, head) movements that express something.
  • Voice is the sound or sounds uttered through the mouth of living creatures, especially of human beings (speaking, shouting, singing, etc.)
  • Watch the video of our district’s theatre teachers (below) giving you some ideas of ways to greet each other, using gestures and/or voice, while maintaining physical distance.
  • Challenge!! Can you think of any different ways you can greet others using gestures and/or voice, while staying 6 feet apart? Come up with your own greetings and record yourself doing 1 or more that your create and turn them in to this flipgrid challenge:

Another great video to watch about using your voice is Mrs. Montgomery’s video about voice acting! (see the 2nd video below)

    CVESD Theatre

In the Chula Vista Elementary School district there are 9 amazing, creative, hard-working Theatre teachers: Mrs. Beltran, Miss Cherie, Mrs, Davidson, Ms. De Jerez, Mrs. Elkerton, Mrs. Lawerance, Mrs. Montgomery, Mrs. Schubert, Mrs. Tabor, and Mr. Tony

*Please note that all "primary" lessons could also be appropriate for SDC and visa versa. We have separated them onto categories (Primary, Upper and SDC) but feel free to look through all the lessons in the 3 tabs and try out any that look fun, interesting, and/or piqued your interest.
